Automatic completing full names in cells (2003)

It is possible to automatically to do a formula to put the fullname of a person in a cell without typing it in.
i.e In the example l would like the full name Marc Kretschmann to appear and Kirsten Mckay to appear automatically along the name which is abbrecviated.
Also l would like to 1st characters of the location code to appear in another column automatically , without having to type them out.

    See screenshot for details.

    Any help would be appreciated.

If there is a table (on another sheet) that contains the full names and location codes, then there are a couple of things that you can do.

1- You could add the abbreviations to the first column of that table and then use VLOOKUP in a formula to get the full name and location codes from that table. This has the disadvantage that the abbreviation entered would have to be exactly the same as the one in the table.

2- You could use Validation from Data menu to create drop down lists to select the names from the table and VLOOKUP to get the location codes.

If you could upload a copy of the workbook with names and confidential data altered, we could help show how that is done.

The location code can be solved by typing =left(C3,2) in cell D3 and copying it for all rows
