Modifying Data (Access 2000)

Hi,

Help please.

In the attached Database I need help on two things.
1. Open the RemoveNames Query. I have filtered for all names that are equal to the name in the FirstName column. I want to delete the names to create a blank (null). I tried selecting the names in the resulting column, but I cannot delete the names??? How can I delete the names all in one go without having to delete one at a time??

2. In the NewPostalCodes Query, I need the 3rd number to be a 9. I need help on an expression to replace the 3rd digit with a 9 throughout the postal codes.

TIA
Regards,
Rudi

Re: Modifying Data (Access 2000)

1) Open the RemoveName query in design view.
Select Query | Update Query.
This will make an 'Update To' row appear.
Enter Null in this row.
Select Query | Run or click the Run button on the toolbar (the exclamation mark)

2) Open the NewPostalCodes query in design view.
Select Query | Update Query.
In the 'Update To' row, enter the following expression:

Left([PostalCode],2) & "9" & Right([PostalCode],2)

Select Query | Run.
