color cells with macro (excel 2003)

Range("a1").interior.pattern = xlGrid gives the cell a grid pattern
and Range("a1").interior.pattern = xlCrissCross gives the cell a criss cross pattern

But how do I color a cell two gradient colors diagonally? (Like one can with drawing objects).
Also, how can I find other xlpattern listings?

I don't think I have ever seen this in Excel 2003 and lower. I am aware that this is going to be a feature for Excel 12 with gradient filling for in-cell graphing

To find about about available xlPattern constants:
    - Press F2 in the Visual Basic Editor to activate the Object Browser.
    - Type xlPattern in the search box and press Enter.
