Is there a way I can use my Excel 2000 program to keep track of my checking account, the same way that Quicken or MS money would be used? If so can I get step by step details on how to set up my excel program

Go to Google and type in "Excel check register". You will get many hits.

Thank you Legare for your reply. I tried the site you recommended and found that the temp[late there does not support my OS (WIN98SE).

First, Excel templates very seldom have any dependency on the O/S. They sometimes have a dependency on the version of Excel, but almost never on the O/S version. So, did you try one?

Second, I sent you to Google to look up Excel Check Register. When I do that, I get over 10,000,000 hits so I don't have a clue which one you might have gone to. If by chance one of those 10,000,000 doesn't work on Win 98, did you try any of the others?

Thanks Legare for your reply. Sorry about that. Let me go back to Google and try again. I think what I did was try the first one on the list and "assumed" (you know about that word) the rest would tell me the same thing. Let me go back and try again. I will be in touch.

Went back to the Google page and found a great check register that can be used with Excel. It is - [PDF] Using Excel to Keep a Checkbook Register -. Used the formulas there and it works great. Did a little experimenting with it and found that I could add, subtract columns etc to set up a register that would suit me. Thanks Legare.

Do you mean Using Excel to Keep a Checkbook Register? It's useful to post a link to a site you found, so that others reading this thread can easily go there. It's as easy as copying/pasting the URL from the address bar into your post, and placing <!t> before, and <!t> after it. See <!help=19>Help 19<!/help> for more info.

Thanks Hans for your reply. I thought I did that but after posting my reply I saw that it did not show up as a link that could be easily used.
