Two Google seachboxes and double Roboform (IE7)

Just installed IE7. I have two instances of the Google toolbar (one is my previously installed and configured version) and two instances of Roboform. Can you advise on how I can get rid of the IE-associated barebones Google search box and one set of Roboform icons?
With thanks

Have you tried "Right Clicking" in the tool bar area and removing the check mark near "Google"?

Dave,
That removes the Google toolbar and leaves the smaller IE 7 Google searchbar.

The IE Search box can NOT be removed, but one can select a different search engine. Just use the drop down to the right of the box, select "Change search defaults", and select a different provider. If others are NOT shown, click on the "Find More providers" and you will be taken to a ONLINE list.

MS has complied with the courts and has NOT made MSN or "Live" the default, and not even listed them in the defaults pane.

I was just pointing out that removing the check mark on Google as you suggested, will remove the full add on of the Google Toolbar, not the default IE7 search bar. ( as Dianne was asking to do )

I removed the redundant Roboform icons from the command bar and found that the remaining set of Roboform icons work properly. May have to live with the IE 7 Google search bar.....
Thanks to all

I'm afraid so, or at least until some of the third party utilities start coming out with work arounds.

Try any of these that are listed in the "More Providers" page. They have been around for IE 7 since Beta 1.

Add Search Providers to Internet Explorer 7
To add a provider to the Internet Explorer 7 Instant Search box, click the provider's link below. You can set any of these as the default search provider by selecting the Make this my default search provider check box in the Add Search Provider dialog box that appears when you click the link.

Re: Two Google seachboxes and double Roboform (IE7)

One is a IE 7 search box (in the IE tool bar) and the other is a Google search (in the Google tool bar).
There is NO two GOOGLE tool bars unless you have installed them.

That said, YES, the IE search has Google set as the default.

Have you tried to change the IE seach to some other provider following my instructions ?

If you have anything different, will you please post a screen shot of your two GOOGLE search boxes.

It's only a matter of time before WOPR IE Board is added to that list.

Dave,
I don't like to answer for someone else but I'm pretty sure Dianne is trying to get RID of the IE Search box, not just change the default search engine in the IE box, from Google to another search.

I'd like to do the same thing myself. Why have the two locations taking up space, when the Google Toolbar is the preferred one?
Right now, I have ask.com as the default in the IE Search box, plus the Google Toolbar. Whoopie, I'm thrilled!

I don't have IE7 yet, but from what I've read about it, you can not get rid of the built-in search box. One of the frequent complaints about this new version is that the toolbars are not customizable , or much less than in IE6.

I realize that, see my <post#=608,102>post 608,102</post#> but it's wishful thinking on my part that someone will come up with a hackutility to give more flexiblity to the toolbars, including the ability to get rid of the IE Search bar. Time will tell.
