AVI's no longer work (Media Player 10)

Lately I have noticed that AVI files fail to play from within Windows Media Player. They used to play OK, but no longer. Any suggestions how to cure this problem?

    Chuck,
Open up WMP, click on tools>options>file types. Scroll down and make sure "windows video files ( avi ) is checked.
While you are in there, check other file types you might want WMP to handle.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

A common problem is that the CODECS have not been downloaded or changed.

Try downloading and installing the MS codecs from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...ecdownload.aspx

I reinstalled Media Player, but I now don't think that was the problem. Actually, some AVI's work, but others don't. I just don't have some of the codecs that some sites use within an AVI. I can get along without them.
