    Router Blues

I recently replaced a Linksys WRT54G wireless router with a WRT54GS (with speed booster). The old one received an electrical shock during a thunder storm. There is a lesson to be learned about surge protectors but that is another story.

My challenge relates to the stability of the wireless signal of my laptop. The laptop can see the network but can not connect. I have tried to select the network and enter in the appropriate network key. However it fails to connect. I am currently hard wire connected to the router and the wireless connection has no problem of being established.

I have used Linksys's "Easy Connect" software to automatically setup the connection from wired to wireless. This works but when I shut down (full power off) the laptop and start it back up: the wireless connection does not establish.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    John
