Copy and Paste from Excel (Office 2000)

    Hello,
Is there a way to copy and paste information from an Excel spreadsheet (or even the internet) that will keep the general formatting but not create a table in Word? I've tried RTF but it also creates cells and rows so I'm stuck using unformatted text and then formatting it all again. All I want to do is keep the font, font size and colors.

On second thought, tables could be ok as long as I don't see the "handles" or little squares in the corners. Is there a way to turn those off? To me they are very annoying when they keep popping up.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Louise

You could paste directly or paste special as formatted text, then click anywhere in the table and select Table | Convert | Table to Text. Specify Tab as delimiter and click OK.

You can turn off the end of cell markers in a table, as long as you don't mind turning off paragraph marks at the same time. Tools-Options-View and uncheck the box for paragraph marks.

    Hello Ian,
Thanks for the reply. I didn't have the paragraph marks checked in options so that must not be it.

    Thanks anyway!
