    Reseting Outline Level (Project 2000)

    I have a large project file I have to navigate. Resetting Outline Level to 1 and drilling down works well but its a constant irritation that it remembers my previous expansions below level 1. I'd like some way to force it to fully collapse so that I drill down the completely collapsed structure each time.

    From what I recall the method is the same in 2000 as in 2003. So give it a try. Select View, and then select more views. Select the view that is closest to what you want and then select copy. In the view definition dialog box, identify the desired view name, table, group, and filter characteristics, and then click the OK button. If you want to see the new view in the view bar, then make sure the check mark for Show in menu is selected. Then all you have to do is click the view on the left when you wan to see it.

    Not sure about that - its about seeing the WBS structure fully collapsed. In frustration I wrote the following macro which does the trick nicely -

    Sub ReallyCollapseAllTasks()
    ' Collapse tasks so that drilling down has no memory of previous expansions
    Dim t As Task

    ' Rename all tasks appropriately
    For Each t In ActiveProject.Tasks
    If t.Summary Then
    t.OutlineHideSubTasks
    End If
    Next t

    End Sub

    Kind of using a sledgehammer to crack a nut but it works.
