Office 2007 Beta (Office Pro 2003)

Several weeks ago, I dowloaded all of the Office Betas from MS. I haven't installed them yet. I do not have a "test" system. The PC's I have, I use every day to do my work. So, my question is: Are the latest beta releases for the office programs (specifically, Word, XL, PPT, OL and Publisher) working okay?

An option during the install of a new office suite is the removal of the older suite. I usually do this. Don't want several versions of office cluttering my machine.

I'm a bit impatient and don't want to wait until the retail versions hit the shelves but at the same time, I don't want to wreck my system or lose access to the thousands of office files that work just fine with Office 2003... I'm sure there are volumes of stories on the web about the beta releases, but I'm more interested to know of any "real life" experiences with the current betas. Can anyone recommend going forward at this point, or are the betas still too unstable?

Re: Office 2007 Beta (Office Pro 2003)

I have been using Office 2007 Beta since it came out, BUT, on my Vista machine. It works just fine. There is a "Refresh" out for the Beta 2, if you install Office 2007, you should get it before you do the install.

Be aware that MS has pulled the Beta as it is almost ready to be RTM'ed.

Bottom line, NO test machine and almost RTM, I would wait until the retail product is released to the public.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Thank you

Thanks Dave. I think I'll follow your "bottom line" reasoning. I'll be glad when it hits the shelves; the new Outlook looks greatly improved.
