    Labels (2003)

How do I create a template that will open an new sheet of labels (5162) that each has a logo and an ascending number? And is there any way to create a macro that asks, on opening, at which number you'd like the labels to start and for how many pages you'd like them to continue?
I've copied a bit of code from an old template, but I have no idea how to make it work.

Probably the easiest way to do this, without needing any code, is to create an Excel spreadsheet and use the Edit | Fill Down | Series command to quickly generate the sequence if numbers you need.
Save the spreadsheet and use it as data source for a mail merge to labels. Save the merge document (the one with the merge field) after you have created the labels.
Next time, open the spreadsheet, clear the sequence and generate the new one, then save it. The mail merge will now use the new sequence.

Thanks -- I'm arranging the labels now, but I'm running into trouble with the picture. I'd like it to sit on the left side of the label with the number centered vertically to the right of it, but I can't figure out how to control where the number goes.

Try using a tab position. To insert a tab in a table cell, use Ctrl+Tab (the Tab key itself takes you to the next cell)

I've managed to arrange the labels, but when I preview them, they don't show the numbers from the Excel sheet -- they're just blank.

Have you gone through the steps of the Mail Merge Wizard (aka task pane)?
In step 3, you can link to the Excel workbook.
In step 4, you should place a merge field in the first label, then click Propagate labels.
In step 5, you can preview the result.
In step 6, you can merge to a new document (or directly to the printer)

    Thanks

You got it, I missed the PropagateLabels.
