Macro for refreshing ListObject (Excel 2003)

To refresh ListObject, I right-mouse click on the list area, choose 'List' from the pop-up menu, then click on 'Discard Changes and Refresh' . This works.
However, when I record the macro to do this, then run the macro, it gives me... Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error.
What does this mean? Why will refresh work manually but not using the macro? The macro code = Worksheets(1).ListObjects("List1").Refresh
