    CopyURL (Firefox 2)

Just a note to anyone who uses the extension mentioned in <post:=483,829>post 483,829</post:> for copying hyperlinks to the Lounge - the CopyURL extension has yet to be updated for Firefox 2. I'm sure it's only a matter of time...

If at first you do succeed, you&#39;ve probably missed something.

    Re: CopyURL (Firefox 2)

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by TonyE on 27-Oct-06 19:30. Amendment to the 2nd option)</P>CopyURL plus 1.3.2 can be made to work on Firefox 2

A few ways to make it work:
1/ Install the Nightly Tester Tools extension - this can be used to bypass compatibility testing and to install extensions that are not shown as compatible.

2/ Enter about:config into the location bar and press enter
Find the preference extensions.checkCompatibility and double-click on it to change its value to false. You will then be able to install extensions that are not listed as compatible.
This preference does not exist by default, so if you can not find it, right-click within about:config and select "New > Boolean" enter the name of the preference exactly as shown above and set its value to false.

3/ Modify the .xpi file by bumping the maxversion - to do this you will need to save a copy of the extension to your hard drive.

Open copyurlplus-v1.3.2.xpi in you favourite zip editor
Once opened in your zip editor, edit the file called install.rdf
Near the top of that file is a line that contains em:maxversion just below where it says Firefox, change that line to:

    <code> <em:maxVersion>2.0.0.*</em:maxVersion></code>

Save the file and you will then be able to install it.

You can do the above with other extensions, but there is no guarantee that the extension will work, and can cause unexpected problems with Firefox.
