Web Retrieved Access Database Hyperlinks (2003)

I have been handed a database that was developed by another unit and has made it accessable to the State's front office. There is one form that contains labels, text boxes, and commands that use only hyperlinks for reports, and opening spreadsheets, word documents, powerpoint, and pdf's..

Currently this is distributed via a Novell Application Launcher (NAL) to everyone's desktop.
Because our Governor is not running and a new administration will be elected this fall I have been given the task of making this database available to the transition team via the Web.

The database will be retrieved from the web page and the front-end downloaded to the user's machine.

They will be accessing this through our intranet both from with-in and outside our network.

Geting the database downloaded and opening it works fine.

Accessing the reports (all hyperlinks) works fine.

The problem I'm having is figuring out how to change the hyperlinks for the opening of the Excel Spreadsheets, Word documents, Powerpoint, and PDF's. If I hard code the hyperlinks to where I'm testing, it works fine but I need to make it generic so I can transport this from here to production without having to change the links again.
Access to the database will be from with-in our intranet and outside the firewall to our intranet.

    httpfull path works)
path from where database is retrieved and downloaded to users machine does not work.

Is there a way to obtain the path of where the database resided and use that to build the front of the hyperlink?
Is there a generic way to code the hyperlink (the property 'Hyperlink address' is currently being used).

There is currently 53 files being hyperlinked to with more being added this week.

    Thank you
    Don

If you use the VBA method Application.FollowHyperlink, you can concatenate the file name with CurrentProject.Path:

    Application.FollowHyperlink CurrentProject.Path & "MySpreadsheet.xls"

    Thanks Hans.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me in this situation.
Since this gives me the location of where my database now resides.
Perhaps I need to give a little better explanation of what I'm required to make happen.

The user opens a web page and clicks the url for the database
The database is downloaded and opened probably in c:download.
The files to be opened via the hyperlinks are still back at the url location.
The URL to get the the database is https:xxxx.xxxxxx.state.ny.us/database.mdb
I need to capture the xxxx.xxxxxx.state.ny.us. portion of the URL from the URL that got me the database?

    Any ideas.

I may have to keep a table with the current location of the files and change it manually whenever it is moved to a new server but I'd rather have code figure this out.

    Thank you

I don't see how this could be done. A downloaded file doesn't "know" where it's been downloaded from.

    Thanks Hans,

That is what I've been telling the powers to be but they are insisting there must be a way.
    Perhaps they'll listen now.
