Vista editions, and comments

The comments are probably worth a read in this BBC News story, particularly those relating to resource usage.

Re: Vista editions, and comments

Gee, perhaps the quality of PC's available in Britain are different/inferior to those which are available on the other side of the pond. I couldn't believe the negative comments re: heavy on resources, ran slow on my new PC, etc. And, it would appear the majority of respondees were MAC cultists.

I ran Vista RC1 and now RC2 and haven't had any of the problems that were reported in most of the comments. Of course, some were reporting their experiences with older versions; e.g., Beta 1 and Beta 2 and many simply tried out the "Preview", whatever that was. My personal experience with Vista has been 99% positive. Will I jump at the first opportunity after it's released? Nope.... and for the following reasons:

1. I suspect it is going to take a little while for hardware/software developers to get out their respective Vista-compatible drivers/versions of their products.
2. Cost..... a little steep even for the upgrade versions of Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, which are the only two I would even consider purchasing.
3. There is no real need for me to upgrade at this point, although I do like Vista enough to upgrade.
