Capturing attributes etc from Unix (VBA/Word/2003 Sp2)

I am afraid (very), that I know the answer; BUT. Is it feasible to use VBA to:
1.
navigate through an FTP site to a unix platform,

determine the time/date stamp of files found there, and

selectively copy files from the unix environment back to the Windows environment?
Any clarification will be appreciated.
Regards
Don

Did you have an FTP client in mind? For example, were you thinking of automating Internet Explorer?

There are some Windows API calls that date back about 10 years. I don't know if these have changed over the years, but you could check out these articles:

SAMPLE: Using FTP WinInet APIs in Visual Basic with SimpleFtp (MSKB 195653)
SAMPLE: VBFTP.EXE: Implementing FTP Using WinInet API from VB (MSKB 175179)

Jefferson

I do have a specific FTP client in mind, And now thanks to you, I believe I see a way forward though I have some studying and hopefully, learning in front of me.

FWIW my organization is adamant that the master templates be held on the web (intranet). Users, being human, will not download from the web every time they want to attach a template, but use the copy they downloaded earlier. You were supportive in earlier threads where I discusses a scheme that maintained a copy of the latest template on the user's hard drive. Now my problem is ensuring that the templates I provide are current.

Thank you for the pointers.
Regards
Don

All you nee fto do is make sure that the drive on the unix system can be mountedas a logical volume in windoze.
If, then it's no different than any other volume.

I fegot to mention.
I'm not sure whether time stamps are interpreted the same way on voluymes mounted from unix as logical volumes in windows.
You might have to adust for UTC, or not.
