UDF as Addin then emailed (Excel 2003)

    Hi,
There is lots of help about Addins, but I cannot find something about emailing a UDF addin and getting it to work on the recipients PC.

If I create an xla file that contains a UDF and install the addin on my PC, the UDF works well. If I then email that file to someone, do I need to email the xla file too or is it sent automatically with the file where the addin was activated? I just need some clarity about how to manage a UDF addin if I am planning to email the WB to a recipient and that UDF must work when they open the file.

    TIA
    Regards,
    Rudi

    Hi Rudi,
If the UDF is contained in a separate file (whether .xla/dll/xll add-in or plain workbook), you will need to send that file as well - or change the formulas that use it to values.

You could also move the UDF into the workbook where it is used if it needs to be a self-contained entity?
