    Al Bear's Rocket car

Al Bear Einstein was very excited, he had just been testing his brand new rocket car out on the motorway and decided to do a time trial.

He was going to travel between the Magic Forest University and the seaside and then back again. Al Bear had realised that the inertial dampening device in his cockpit was not working properly so decided to measure from the University gates to the outer limits of the seaside town, stop the clock and restart it again on the return journey.

Al Bear accelerated down the drive and as he passed the University gate he put on the rocket car's cruise control allowing him to go at a constant speed to and back. He noted the odometer read 14,941 miles. The round trip took exactly two hours and on his return he noted that the odometer again displayed a palindromic number.

How far away is the seaside town from the University gates and how fast was he going?
