    Linux Wireless

Well, I tried mentioning this (wrongly) as part of another post... since, I've gotten some new (to me) data, so I thought I'd start over:

I have VMware installed, and am able to run Linux through same. Then I installed Linux directly into it's own partition, where it runs fine but cannot connect to the internet. I find out that Linux support for my (or any) wireless network card (MN 730) is sparse at best, and it was then suggested that I get a wireless ethernet bridge, about $75.

That's OK, well, not OK but do-able, but is this in place of my wireless network card, or in addition? Will it conflict? And where does the 'ethernet' part come in? Is our wireless in fact ethernet?

Obviously, now I'm more in the dark than before...

Any experience with these would be appreciated...

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Re: Linux Wireless

WIreless is very possible on linux, its just tricky to config it correctly. I have gentoo running on my toshiba laptop and the wireless works. The only thing I can tell you is google your wireless card and linux. If you can find someone who has it running on say Red Hat or Slackware, you can use it to get it running on Suse.

    Mike:

    You am truly root...

I just need a drink before I'll be able to get all this right... This is just the kind of thing that made me stay in the software end mostly...

    Good grief!

Thanks though, I'm gonna have to take a crack at it to see if I can get it to work...

    Regards,
    Chuck
