change file extensions (XP SP2)

How does one change extensions on a number of files all at the sametime? I have 40 or so files with an extension of .mod that needs changed to .mpg Takes a long time to do it one at a time.

Re: change file extensions (XP SP2)

Good old DOS to the rescue!

Open a command prompt window (Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt).
Switch to the drive where the files are, if they are not on the default drive (usually C.
For example, if the files are on the E: drive, type
E:
and press Enter.
Make the folder containing the files the current folder, using the CD command.
For example, if the files are in the DocumentsVideo folder, type
cd DocumentsVideo
and press Enter.
    Type
rename *.mod *.mpg
and press Enter.
