    Kelly's Korner

I'm curious if other Loungers have experienced this problem. I use Troubleshooting Windows XP, Tweaks and Fixes for Windows XP often to look for possible solutions to Windows problems. In recent times, when I visit her home page linked here, I cannot get to her "Tweaks" page from within Firefox and I wonder if anyone else is having this problem? If I try the same visit in IE it works just fine. It's indicative that she may have changed something in her code that screws Firefox users, for I have always been able to access her tweaks page.

Seems fine at the moment in Fx 1.5.0.8: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm. I use the NoScript extension. I enabled scripts and didn't notice any difference. ???

Thanks everyone. I'm still running Fx 1.5.0.8 and won't be converting to 2.0 in the next day or two ... <img src=/S/anigrin.gif border=0 alt=anigrin width=19 height=19> This looks a lot like the problem I had back in 2004 with the ABC and ESPN web sites. I thought Joe Perez uncorked that one for me when he suggested looking at Internet Options, script debugging. That one went away at the time, but strangely enough, those tick boxes are checked now and ABC/ESPN work fine. When I am on Kelly's main page and click the tweaks link, nothing at all happens. Well, it's not important - I'll just remember to use IE...

You don't need to remember, Al - there are plug-ins (extensions) that will do it for you...

Al, did you install the DOM Inspector? This is part of the "custom install" for Fx 1.5. If so, you can open it on Kelly's home page using the Tools menu, click the first icon on the toolbar, then click the Tweaks link. The DOM Inspector should navigate in its DOM tree to the object it thinks you clicked. If it isn't the link (<A> element), it might be something inappropriately floating in front of the link. Normally this page should render the same for all Fx users, but some extensions (e.g., NoScript, ad blockers, GreaseMonkey scripts) might alter the rendering so that it is not what the page designer planned.

Sorry, I got nerdy there for a minute, but if you get curious, you could try it.

    Re: Kelly's Korner

Coming back to this one, it seems to have "cleared itself up" magically! Responding to another post just now, I went to Kelly's and then to the Tweaks page just fine. BTW, ever since I installed Fx 1.5.0.8 I'm back to running a clean browser with no extensions. I had four or five extensions installed that I removed, planning to start over when I install 2.0 which I haven't done yet.

Anyway, I have absolutely no idea what could have changed on my machine or whether some update that Kelly had on her tweaks page at the time is now gone... I guess it's another one of life's mysteries.
