MS WORD wants to add additional blank page..WHY? (2003)

When I cut and paste certain text into a new document from an existing document, WORD adds a page 2 for no reason. I can't even erase the blank spaces on the new page without erasing the last character on page 1. Why does WORD do stuff like that for no reason?

    Could you attach an example?

I'm attaching an example. Try to just delete the second page without deleting the last character on the first page.

There is a Next Page section break at the end of page one. You can see this by clicking the Show/Hide button on the toolbar or by switching to Normal view.
To delete the section break, position the insertion point immediately after the zip code and press Delete.
