Why Pic not Copy (2003)

See attached file, graphic can copy between applications, e.g. word, excel, but I cannot copy and paste as a graphic file into another directory.
Can someone please explain why this particular (type) of graphic behaves as it does. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Hi Paul

I have just selected it and used Ctrl+C and then in PowerPoint and Paint Shop Pro Ctrl+V and it copied OK for me, out of interest what is the item in question it looks like a) a torture instrument or ( a Jezza homemade impliment for a kitchen table project?

Cheers

This is standard behavior, it is not specific to Excel or to this particular graphic. When you copy any graphic in any application to the clipboard, you can't just paste it into a folder as a file.
One workaround is to paste into a graphics editor such as Paint or IrfanView and then use File | Save As... to save it as a file.
Another workaround is to save the workbook as a .htm file. Excel will automatically create a subfolder with the picture in it.

Yes, OK in applications - Hans has given me a pointer as well. Hmmm, "torture instrument", not tooooo far off. I work for a dental supply company, the item in question is a brush handle, a small one time bristle head is attached, then the dentist uses this to position composites, etches, drying agents and the like.

So Hans was right then.

It is a torture instrument.
