    Word TOC (2003)

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a table of content (4 levels) in a table format? I have tried many different things but cannot seem to be able to create more than a one cell table.

    Thanks!

Not as far as I know. You could unlink the TOC (Ctrl+Shift+F9) when you've finalized the doc, then convert it to a table. But if the document changes after that, you'll have to generate the TOC anew.

Thanks HansV! This could do the trick! The document should not require many changes so this could work!

Remember that Word paginates the document depending on your default printer, so if you do this and then print the document on a different printer the page numbers in the Table of Contents may be wrong.

    Hi nala,

You can get an effect akin to a table with one cell/row via Style formatting. See the attached, where I've formatted the TOC1 & TOC2 Styles with borders, 1.5 line spacing and lowered the characters by 3pt.
