    Re: LocalHost

    What is at localhost:80?

Have you got a root folder in your inetpub/wwwroot folder?

Try creating a test folder called skips into wwwroot and then a dummy index.htm page in skips.

    now try http://localhost/skips/index.htm

Does that allow you access to your index page?

    Re: LocalHost

.....if you have done that and it works try:

    1) From the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
    2) Under the Tree pane, browse to the desired Web site.
    3) Right-click the Web site, and then click Properties.
    4) On the Directory Security tab, under Anonymous access and authentication control, click Edit.
    5) Select (and implement) at least one type of authentication method.

    Jezza,

If I type in localhost on the browser a log in screen appear. When i point to Administrative Tools, there is not Internet Services Manager. I am running IIS on Windows XP Professional.

    Thanks,

    Re: LocalHost

Does anything happen if you follow this link? http://localhost/iishelp/

If not, IIS might not be running and another process might be listening on port 80. Try repairing your installation of IIS:
<hr>To install IIS, add optional components, or remove optional components
    1. <LI>Click Start, click Control Panel, and click Add or Remove Programs.
<LI>Click Add/Remove Windows Components. The Windows Components Wizard appears.
<LI>Follow the on-screen instructions to install, remove, or add components to IIS.
    <hr>
