Outlook Connector? (Outlook 2003)

I downloaded the Outlook Connector from Microsoft as an Outlook add-in...

I understood it to be a way to, among other things, deal with Hotmail accounts and appointments online...

But I cannot connect. It tells me that it's "Not available for my member hip type".

Has anyone worked with this and have any idea what is the deal?

Regards,
Chuck Billow

Microsoft knows that it is not for hip types such as you!

But seriously, are you sure that is the exact text of the error message? There is no hit in Google at all for "member hip type".

Have you perhaps used a silent 's', and it is in fact 'membership'?

Still got no idea, but perhaps Use Outlook with MSN and MSN Hotmail may help, where it states:

Access e-mail messages, contacts, calendar, tasks, and notes

You need to use the Outlook Connector and to subscribe to one of the following MSN Premium Services:

* Outlook Live
* MSN Premium
* MSN Dial-up

More information about MSN Subscription Plans is available on the MSN Web site

Um, you mean Microsoft isn't giving this to me gratis? One vote in the linux column. Interesting once Novell and MS get all the wrinkles out of that deal...

Sorry guys...

Thanks,
Chuck

MS ended the free access to Hotmail & its derivatives a couple of years ago. See MSN Ends Hotmail's Free Outlook Access. If you were using Outlook to access a hotmail account at that time you could continue. I still acess hotmail accounts at home & work with Outlook 2003. MS is still giving you a free e-mail account.

Joe:

I remember that, and I "got the memo"... but in the same memo, it was that current Hotmail "clients" weren't going to be affected, just new peoples, hence I still have my Hotmail account. I even get my Hotmail into Outlook (2003).

But I guess that doesn't count for this, eh?

If you already access Hotmail with Outlook why would you be adding a connector to do the same thing?

I thought that having access to syncing the desktop and the net calendars etc. was worthwhile... but surely not worth paying extra for at any rate...

If by desktop you mean Outlook then you can't do that anyway. The services that it is allowing you access to are all web based.

Joe:

I had thought that you'd (I'd) be able to sync the web version with my "desktop" version, so that I'd have access to my desktop in effect, from anywhere...

What the heck would it for if not that?

Regards,
Chuck

I apologize... I thought I should be seeing something of the costs etc., but wasn't... blind me...
