using default sheet1 in formual (Excel 2000)

Is there a way that a formula can refer to sheet1 instead of the name,

I have a workbook which has 12 sheets hidden

there is a drop down menu that has 12 dropdowns which when an item is pick a sheet unhides and is named that item.

ON a seperate sheet iwill have it in a datafile format refeing to each sheets colume H so that Ican transfer the data in one go to antoher workbook.

So is there Ican have a formula =Sheet1!H9 ect? or will I have to indirect offset ?

If you rename a sheet, Excel will automatically adjust ordinary formulas. If you want a formula always to refer to a sheet named Sheet1, you can use the INDIRECT function:

    =INDIRECT("Sheet1!H9")
