Make your own PDFs

From the Zip Guy.

Free PDF is a utility which allows you to create PDFs
just by printing to a "Create PDF" printer,
from any Windows 9x/ME application FOR FREE!

I love this thing. Works like a charm, there is one drawback, the install and configuration is a bit of pain (requires download and install of three separate programs) but once it's installed it's a treat. Haven't found any problems with it yet. Check it out here

Just wondering if you have an uptodate URL for this fellow's software? The linked URL is giving wonderful 404 errors .

If you want an alternative, I've used Cute PDF and PDF995 on simple conversions entirely successfully!

.... or you could buy a Mac Mini. OS X has PDF writer built in to every Print dialogue. - But you knew that, didn't you!

ZipGuy appears to be off the air. Here's a few mostly ware alternatives:
Freeware downloads Misc. Categories - PDF Tools

Re: Make your own PDFs

Yeah yeah.. I knew that. I also know that various distributions of Linux include this feature too .

However, I'm looking for an option at work on a Windows box, as that is the platform of (their) choice.

Thanks Alan .

I've tried the CutePDF Writer that John suggested, and it appears (so far) to do what we need, and as a bonus, it even says it's free for commercial use .

Re: Make your own PDFs

I tried a few of the free PDF creator programs, and found PDF995 suited me best - I guess it comes down to personal preference in the end.

Re: Make your own PDFs

I like JAWS too, especially the way it integrates so well with Word e.g. makes the PDF TOC from the Heading outline structure of the DOC. I heard somewhere that they were offering some older versions 4 free. ???

Re: Make your own PDFs

You have to be careful; you get the correct JAWS / Jaws!

This JAWS is a screen reader/talker for visually impaired persons, and costs either

Re: Make your own PDFs

I remember now, I got my copy of Jaws free from a magazine CD, after the older freeware version (5D-PDF) wouldn't work with Office 2000 I think. I tried to get it online, but ended up with JAWS instead, because I couldn't read the screen properly. Once I had JAWS, I was able to see what I was doing and realized my mistake. Then I was able to obtain Jaws, as originally planned.
