    Changing date format (2003)

I've set a custom date format of yymmmdd. When data is entered in this format, it displays as ddmmmyy, other entry formats display as yymmmdd. For example, entering 06nov20 changes format to 20nov06, while entering nov 20, 06 displays as 06nov20. Any clues as to why this is happening?

    Thanks!

In Excel, when you format a cell as a date, that is only the display format. That does not affect the formats in which dates can entered. Excel generally uses the date format on the control panel local settings to determine how dates may be entered.

That's what I figured. I tried it with a year of 99. Entering it in 99nov20 format caused it to be text in excel--because windows expects ddmmmyy format, and 99 is not a valid day. Thanks for the confirmation.
