Vertical Alignment & Status Bar (2002/SR2)

When working on others' documents, if they don't use tabs to align text, is there a way to ensure the text does align, short of printing out the page? I realize "Col" will work if consistent formatting has been applied, but if, say, at tab is used on a line and a first line indent on another line, the "Col" can't indicate if the alignment is the same.

No, I am sorry.

When the text is not consistently formatted with tabs and one is trying to get text aligned with some of the text above it, is there any indication, other than eyeballing or printing, that tells where on the line text is.

Hope this attachment will indicate what I'm dealing with.

That's horizontal alignment, not vertical alignment, because you're interested in the (horizontal) distance from the left margin.

There's no point in trying to get the text to align correctly using spaces. Just apply the same tab settings throughout, and replace multiple spaces (^w) with tabs (^t).
