Changing references via VBA in an MDE (Access 2002 SP2)

    Hello all.,

Does anyone know if, and if so, how to go about changing a reference using VBA from within an MDE.

The problem we have is that we have a library MDE which sits on each server (Test/UAT/Live) and as the application MDE progresses through the environment I want to be able to re-point its reference to the version of the library on relevant server. The usual way of doing this on an MDB does not work on an MDE.

    Thanks in advance
    Nathan

You cannot change references in an MDE database. But there is a workaround:
    - Create a key RefLibPaths under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0Acces s
    - Create a string value with the name of the library MDE.
    - Set the value of this entry to the path of the library MDE (ending in a backslash).
When Access cannot resolve the reference, it'll try to look up the path in the RefLibPaths key.

See Using RefLibPaths with MS AccessXP...

    Thanks.,

This has worked well, and is now in Production.

    Cheers
