Word language problem (Word 97 SR2)

    Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me. I noticed in a document that I am working on, that spell check wasn't underlining misspelled words. After some digging, I found that the Language for the template is set to no proofing.

I did not set this up in the template (Normal.dot seems to be fine). When I try to change this, it says that it's saving it to the template, but then when I open a new doc in the template, it is still set to no proofing instead of English US.

I can change this on each document separately, but what a pain.

    Any ideas?

    TIA,
    Laura

    Hi Laura,

Do these templates contain form fields?

If so then the language is automatically set to no proofing. See this article:

    Laura,

It's unclear from your post where (i.e. from which document) you are setting the language setting from - in order for it to reliably 'stick' in the template, then you'll need to open the template and make the change there.

I don't have any form fields in the template, but I may have tried them and taken it out. Would the no proofing stick?

I did try to delete the no proofing directly from the template without success.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might just start over since the template's pretty simple.
