    Daily Archiving (O2K, SR-1)

I have specified archiving options for each separate folder that I have set up; some to archive, some to delete, and with different time periods. I set the AutoArchive option to run every day. This option does not seem to be following my customized archive settings. If I just run the Archive command, the default is to archive all items older than some date in February.

Does the AutoArchive command follow the custom archive rules that are set for each folder? If not, how does it work?

    Re: Daily Archiving (O2K, SR-1)

I use OL2k (9.0.0.2711) with many sub-folders under the Inbox folder. These subfolders have various archive time periods associated with them. AutoArchive is set to run every 2 weeks. This works correctly for me so I believe your expectations sound correct, but I am afraid that I can not offer any troubleshooting advice except to point out the the Help for AutoArchive listed a troubleshooting section.

Exactly how isn't it following your set up instructions?
Remember that autoarchive works on the last date the object was touched - so if a mail item arrived two months ago, and you have set Inbox to archive everything over a month old, but you looked at that message yesterday, it won't get archived (for another month providing you don't look at it again)
The File | Archive command has a radio button - Archive all folders according to their AutoArchive settings - which will force it to use your preferred settings. Otherwise, it just uses an 'Archive everything older that this date' (subject to the above condition) algorithm.

    Re: Daily Archiving (O2K, SR-1)

I hadn't realized that reading the messages would "reset" the clock on their archiving; I was judging the archiving's effects based on the sent/received timestamps on the messages remaining after the archive operation. I had been re-reading a number of old messages looking for some information, so this would explain why the folders didn't seem to be archiving. Looking at the folder contents from this perspective, all things appear to be functioning properly. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
