Adobe Acrobat

I have created a PDF file of a document. In doing so, I set several security restrictions with a password. Now, when I open the PDF file I cannot edit it because of the restrictions. I thought I would be able to do so by using the password but I cannot see how to. Any suggestions?

I don't know what version of Acrobat you have, using Acrobat 6 you can:
File > Document Properties > Security > Change Settings
Enter your password
Click OK without changing any of the settings
The document is now unlocked for the duration of this session

I do not have Adobe Acrobat. I have Adobe Reader v7.0.8. I also got a message that you had sent a private message, but the link would not work.

Re: Adobe Acrobat

I had a reply from another forum which explains my problem.

<<<The password restricts editing in Acrobat (among other Adobe applications that can edit PDF's), not with Reader. Reader doesn't edit PDF so, there's no reason to make editing available if you have the password. >>>

In your original post, you stated

I have created a PDF file of a document. In doing so, I set several security restrictions with a password.

I wouldn't have guessed from this that you only have Adobe Reader.

Re: Adobe Acrobat

Sorry for the confusion. I have Scansoft Omnipage Professional 15 which includes two supplementary programs, PDF Create 3.0 and PDF Converter 3.0.

It may be worth checking the Omnipage / PDF Create / PDF Converter setups and see if is password protection has been built-in or is an option.

The private message was just to tell you that I had moved your post from the General Windows board to the Software Finds and Wants board - but you seem to have found it anyway
