    Delivery Options (Outlook 2003)

Not sure what I did, but all of my emails, when I "Reply" are directed into my archive folder.
When I checked the View/Options/Message Options, the box that says Save Sent Messages to says 11-2006 instead of Sent Mail. (11-2006 being an archive folder I use)

I am sure I set something, somewhere, but I need the Default of Sent Items for all emails !! Is there a way to default ALL previous messages back to Sent Items? Or will I need to do this manually each time I reply to an email?

    Thank you very much.

Do you have a rule that moves e-mails? Check in Tools | Rules Wizard.

    Re: Delivery Options (Outlook 2003)

    No Rules at all.

I have a pst file (which we did a repair on just in case). It is broken down into 11 folders - 1 for each month of 2006 so far.

This issue is with every email in every month.

This does not occur with "New" Emails. Only previous emails that I try to Reply To or Forward.

After it is sent, it is Defaulting to that month's folder instead of defaulting to the Sent Items folder.

I have looked for an hour for a way to restore the defaults, and cannot find it <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

    Thanks again !!

Do you have code in the ThisOutlookSession module, in particular for the Application_ItemSend event?

    Re: Delivery Options (Outlook 2003)

Now I am a bit embarrassed. I have NO IDEA about coding Outlook (didn't even know I could !) I'm an Access man at heart really !

If I didn't touch the code (through a module) could I have changed something 'setting' wise without realizing?

    Thanks again Hans for assisting.

Well, I just did find where the code would be, and there is no code at all.

I suppose you haven't installed any add-ins that move e-mails either? I'm afraid I have no further ideas.

Have you checked Tools | Options | Preferences | E-mail Options "Save copies of messages in Sent Items Folder"? Also, under Tools | Options | Preferences | E-mail Options | Advanced E-mail options - "In folders other than Inbox...."?

    No Addins either.

Currently, anytime I Reply to an email, I manually go to the Options and change it from 11-2006 (or whatever month) to Sent Items.

I was hoping there was a way to "Default" Outlook back to its original settings.

Thanks anyway Hans. I will keep on looking !

Sorry Joe, we must have posted together.

    Both are checked off.

This is puzzling..... I still believe there has to be a way to default all settings.
But then again, maybe not !

    Thanks guys !

What happens if you 'check' Save a copy in Sent Items?

    Re: Delivery Options (Outlook 2003)

I have the Options/Preferences set to Save a copy in Sent Items

When I open an email and click "Reply", then I go to View/Options, the Save Sent messages to has the
Archive folder listed for the particular month of the email !! (See attached).
I checked all of my archived folders and they all have this !

I have searched around for a "Restore Default Outlook Settings" but can't find it !

I am sure I did something, somehow to create this, but can't figure it out. Whatever I did, it
changed this setting on every email in the pst file ! (We did a repair on the pst to no avail).

    Crazy, huh ?

Thanks for taking a look !

I don't think your attachment is what you meant to attach.*

Right click your Inbox folder, select Properties, and review the Folder Archive settings; how are they set?

    * Also, you can directly attach pictures to Lounge messages, after saving them to disk, you don't need to post them within Word documents. For dialog boxes, PNG is probably the best format for saving the graphic.

    Re: Delivery Options (Outlook 2003)

    Hi John,

Thanks for the pic tip !! All of my AutoArchives are unchecked. I have NO AutoArchive anywhere.

If you look at the second pic, the Message Options, this is where I believe the issue is.
When I "Reply" to a previous email, it is not going into my Sent Items, it goes into whatever folder is listed in the Message Options.(In this case, 11-2006) If I manually change it to Sent Items, it works fine.
I guess what I need to know is: Shouldn't the "Default" setting be Sent Items for all email? (Unless specified otherwise?)
Therefore, there should be a way for me to change all of these to default back to Sent Items ?
    Thanks again everyone !

    Re: Delivery Options (Outlook 2003)

My mistake, the second picture didn't pop right after the Word doc loaded, so I missed it.

Hans and Joe have already suggested the settings that I thought would solve your problem, I'm trying to think of anything else. As the old joke goes "I don't have a solution, but I do admire the problem". I'm still inclined to believe you have a Rule working that you may have created, possibly via the "Organize" button or menus - check that as a possibility. A couple more wild ideas:

Could you have customized your reply message window? I don't use forms design, so I'm thin in this area, but start to reply to a Message and in the reply message window select Tools | Forms | Design this Form | Options button - see if you can reset the "Save Sent Message To" and then Run this Form. Can another Lounger advise how to save this modified Form, as I'm not familiar with Forms Design?

As a last resort you can try this reset, but be warned that all View customization, inlcluding filters, etc., will be permanently lost, and would need to be rebuilt from scratch. Close Outlook and all Outlook windows and processes, and then from the Start | Run command line run:

    outlook.exe /cleanviews
