    Favicon in IE

    Hi all !

    I've put a favicon on my site that works fine in Netscape but does not show up in Internet Explorer.

    The favicon code on my home page is:

    <meta name="GENERATOR"
    content="Mozilla/4.5 [en] (Win95; I) [Netscape]">

    <link rel="shortcut icon"
    href="http://www.curvedmouldings.com/favicon.ico">

    <title>B.H. DAVIS COMPANY -- Curved Mouldings</title>
    </head>
    <body

    (I've included a few lines above and below so you can see the placement .)

    Question is of course what do I need to adjust to get this to show in IE?

    Also, what I didn't expect is that in Netscape I only had to add this to my home page. As long as someone goes into the site through the home page the favicon remains in the URL window when traveling to any other pages on the site.

    Thanks,
    BH Davis

    Re: Favicon in IE

    Hi there again

    The simplest way to do this is put you favicon in the root folder (same place as the index.htm file) and use a relative link, NOT an absolute link

    Inside the <HEAD> tags plave this:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" />

    Try that and see if that works.

    In addition to what Jezza wrote, I find that the Favicon needs a little nudge when in IE.

    Try left-clicking on the default IE icon in the address bar, and dragging it a centimetre or two to the right then releasing it. This usually does the trick for me.
