    File Closing (2002/SR2)

    Hi, Again -

We are having a discussion about the best way to Close a Word file (after it's saved): some say clicking Close Window in upper right-hand corner is fine, other say one should use File/Close.

    DOES it matter?

    Thanks,
    Acer

For most practical purposes, they are equivalent. You don't even need to save the document before closing it: if it has been changed, Word will prompt you whether you want to save it.

There *is* a difference - if you create a macro named FileClose, it will intercept the File | Close menu option, but not the close button in the upper right corner.
