    Temporary Internet Files

Is there supposed to be a Temporary Internet Files directory within the top level Temporary Internet Files directory?

I've had one for a long time and it does get used.
Is it supposed to be there?
I've sent it to the Recycle bin.
I'll see whether it gets recreated upon beboot, but I've got a few hours more to complete a virus scan, after which I can reboot.

    Re: Temporary Internet Files

    This isn't normal.
Have a look in Internet Explorer, Tools > Internet Options > General > click the Settings... button in the Temporary Internet Files area.
Click Move Folder and select the folder ABOVE your highest level Temporary Internet Files folder
This should move everything to the correct place.

My guess is that sometime in the past you have done this and chosen the Temporary Internet Files folder, this would cause the behaviour you describe.

I specified that setting years ago.
I'll just have to keep my eyes open to see it comes back.
If it does, there's likely some orphan registry entry creating the critter.

    Re: Temporary Internet Files

Found the cause of the problem, my fat fingers.

    PC is a multiboot system.

N-1 of the OS had the location specified correctly, but one had the extra directory layer.

All 4 OS share certain direcories.
