Font Colors in Conversations (MSO 2003)

I just added a newsgroup to Outlook... and the default Message View sorts the box by "Conversation", and then "Conversation Index", which is fine.

What I'd like to change is the font *color* now a gray or silver, but pretty hard for me to read.

Usually you (I) can adjust font sizes, type, and color, but I found nothing on this particular aspect.

Any idea where I can find and adjust this?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Chuck,

As you should know by now, Outlook doesn't have a news reader. It uses Outlook Express for this. See for example the thread starting at <post:=605,098>post 605,098</post:>.
So your question is in the wrong forum.

    Hans:

Yea, I know I was a bit slow on this prior... but these are messages sent through Outlook, and the issue is one of the *Outlook* views.

Are you saying that OE is buried into Outlook so deeply that Outlook shows the messages in one of it's mailboxes, and shows the Views, but the control is in OE???

Can I send you some type of copy to further delineate?

I thought you meant View | Go To | News... but apparently you're talking about something else. I have no experience with showing newsgroup discussions in mail folders.

Neither, as we know, do I really... But:

    <<

If you set one up you'll find, I think, that you can't control the group headings font colrs. And if so, and if they are for you, as me, silvery, they are hard to read...

    Ah me....

Can you explain how you added a newsgroup to Outlook?

    Hans:

Not really a newsgroup, just notice of posting, much the same as what I now get from WOPR, individual notices of postings... Then, via 'Rules', it's moved to my MS Newsgroups folder which set itself up *automatically* (go figure) to sort by Conversation, and then by Conversation Index, hence the groupings.

    Chuck

Thanks. Can you post a screenshot (max 640x480 pixels) showing the 'silver' font?

    Hans:

Here's a shot... but not 640x480... I couldn't set it that way without re-configuring my hardware...

This is fine - I wrote max 640x480, i.e. not larger than 640x480.

As far as I know, the formatting you show is determined by the settings in the Appearance tab of the Display Properties control panel in Windows, not by Outlook.

That's what I would have thought as well... I just would like to find what aspect it's tied to...

    Oh well...

    Thanks,

Have you tried View/Arrange By/Current View/ Customise Current View/Modify/Automatic Formatting/Font [or Conditions] (which is the normal route for changing any view) - or are you saying that you can't change it through that method? HTH

    unkamunka:

Using that method I see no coloration that goes to "silver"... I set anything remotely silver to black just to be sure...

I haven't found any conditions for same either....

Re: Font Colors in Conversations (MSO 2003)

The Automatic Formatting dialog lets you change the font for unread group headers but there doesn't seem to be a way to change the font for read group headers. The question has been asked in other forums/newsgroups but there were no replies. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>
