    File Locked (2000)

I created an Access DB on my wife's computer (Access 2000) in a shared folder. When I try to copy it to my computer it informs me that the file is either in use or locked out in some way such that I am not permitted to copy it. I can easily copy other files in the shared folder, but not that one. Both computers are running XP SP2 and are on a LAN. Any idea what's going on here?

    Hi Chuck,

Does the behavior persist after restarting your wife's PC? Sometimes Windows will think a file is still in use, but a restart usually takes care of that.

    Re: File Locked (2000)

I was trying to copy the db by dragging it from a shared folder on the wife's computer to a folder on mine. That didn't work. However, I found that if I copied the file to the clipboard and then pasted it into my folder it worked! Why the difference I don't know, but at least that solved the problem. Thanks for your help.
