Lines in a Word document (2003)

Someone sent me the attached "form," and it has some features I can't understand. You'll see this "biography" form uses a simple one-column table as a skeleton. Inside the cells are the questions and space for a response. Whoever built this thing used the <Enter> key to create space between lines and other techniques that I would never have used. (If you print this form, it works fine. As an on-line form

Each of the paragraph markers has the line set as a border. If you select the para markers, set borders/shading to none, even though it may already show there are none.

In addition to Leanne's (spot on) reply: if you select text in a table cell, then select Format | Borders and Shading..., Word will by default select Cell in the 'Apply to' dropdown. You must explicitly select Paragraph in this dropdown, then click None to clear the paragraph borders.

Re: Lines in a Word document (2003)

Thank you for your advice, Leanne! I got rid of the heavy lines. Now...please look at the cell that includes "EDUCATION (SERVICE SCHOOLS~". I can't figure out how the "author" created those underlines. On occasion, I've created lines like this by pressing Ctrl+U, then Shift+Ctrl+Spacebar to create an underscore. When I do that and turn on Show/Hide, I can clearly see the string of non-breaking spaces, and the Underline icon is selected. In this document, I see none of the above. So how did the author put those lines into the document?
