Print in Black & White (2003/SP2)

During our monthly training, we have quizzes. I came up with a good way to make an answer key without having to have a seperate document, I put all the correct answers in RED. We print the answer key on a color printer and the actual quizzes on a black only printer, an HP LaserJet 8150N.

Here's the problem, when printing on the black only printer, the answers come out just slightly faded from the regular text. Unless you were looking for it, you wouldn't even notice it, but some people have picked up on it. I could not find a way to change the printing to true Black and White, (that is an option when printing from PowerPoint), is there a setting for that? I might experiment with changing the color to dark blue or dark green and see if that helps, but if there is a setting I can change, that would be easier. Thanks for the help.

Does the printer itself have a "pure black and white" setting - either through the printer properties dialog, or through the LCD panel on the printer itself?

Could you use Find & Replace to make the Red text Hidden, print the quiz, then unhide to print the answer key?

Sorry, I just realized what you mean, the red is one of the choices on multiple choice.

We had this problem with the HP PCL drivers printing in "grayscale." Using the HP PostScript drivers worked around it.

Added: Okay, I remember now. The PCL driver was ignoring the "Print colors as black" checkbox, so that's why I preferred the PS driver. I'll recover these memories sooner or later. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

That's it! Thank you so much. I knew there had to be something there, somewhere but I don't think I ever would have looked under Compatiblity. I really appreciate the help.
