    Windows 98SE

I reformatted the C: drive and used the Windows 98SE CD-ROM to load the OS. My PCI Communication Device, PCI Ethernet Controller and PCI Multimedia Audio Device all have the exclamation icon over them because they don't have a driver present, I'm assuming. I used the "Update Driver" tab and used both a 98 Boot Disk and the 98 CD-ROM but neither have any drivers. Also, my entire picture on the monitor looks like I booted in Safe Mode, would that be my graphics driver as well?

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge !! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Do you have the floppy disks or CDs that came with the computer ?? The drivers for things like the Ethernet card and Audio & Video cards are usually installed seperately from floppys or CDs. The problem with the display is almost certainly driver related.

If you don't have the disks, you can find the drivers on the internet if you know the manufacturer of the monitor and the various cards.

OK, lets start over. I have a Sony Vaio PCV-E302DS desktop computer with a 350MHz Pentium II. I formatted the C:, used my WIN98SE CD-ROM (which says "for PC's without an OS") to install the OS, then after it loads from the disk it attempts to start 98SE for the first time, then proceeds to open with a small visual display and yellow caution triangles in the device manager over evey PCI device. The only other disc I have is a 3.5" Boot disc that is for WIN98 not SE. The monitor I have is a Relysis model no. RE518A.

Try going to Sony eSupport - PCV-E302DS. You should be able to get the drivers you need for the PC.
