    Clean Install Advice (XP)

I want to format my C: drive and start a clean install of XP Pro. I have gone through the install process from the CD but I was never prompted to format the C: drive prior
installing XP. From windows explorer I can see the old profiles/desktops and etc. I would prefer to have a complete format of C: and install XP.

I would appreciate any words of wisdom on formating the "c" drive. I thought of a startup disk but that only gets me into window again.

    Thanks,
    John

Tell us more about this machine.
Do you have OEM System restore CD's?
Or Is it a Retail CD with Windows?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: Clean Install Advice (XP)

    I have a question on Window's firewall.

Since I now have a clean install of XP (SP2) running windows firewall, F-Prot, Spybot and Ad-aware do I need a different firewall such as Zone-Alarm? I had Zone-Alarm prior to the install but things just seemed to bog down especially on the wireless network.

    Thanks,
    John

The Windows firewall is very limited - see StarPost <post:=407,306>post 407,306</post:> for some advice.
