    NET STOP/START

Whilst acutely aware this is a Saturday evening and not many people are logged in I am currently logged into a server remotely from home after its memory went on overdrive and had to reboot it. Having successfully rebooting i logged into another server that has a web service running. I attempted a start/stop and the service went for shut down and then an error message appeared stating that it had come across unexpected delay and had not stopped properly...the message in the service window next to this service just states "stopping".

If I run NET STOP and NET START I get hlpmsg 2189 and 2182 respectfully. This is no good as it tells me nothing. MS tells me to update my drivers but that is advive for Win 2K and I am running a Win 2K3.... <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

    Any ideas?

Limited time meant a reboot....works now but I will probably get a drubbing from the server teams on Monday

There are (at least) two other commands you could have tried - SC from XP (probably Pro) and PsService from SysInternals, as was...!

    Ita, esto, quidcumque...
