CTRL-ALT-DEL has changed (win xp home)

My machine at work which runs xp home got an automatic update a little while ago and now when I press Ctrl-Alt-Del I get what looks like the Win2000 manager window with the six or so options in it. It is labeled xp home security. None of the other 5 machines at work or my home machine has done this yet they all report as up to date with security downloads.

Has any one got any ideas as to why?

I don't know why, but try the following:
    - Select Start | Control Panel.
    - Open User Accounts.
    - Click 'Change the way users log on or off'.
    - Tick the 'Use the welcome screen for fast and easy logon' check box.
    - Click OK.
You should now get Task Manager again when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del.

See Using CTRL+ALT+DEL key combination to open Windows Security opens Task Manager.

Have a look at Using CTRL+ALT+DEL key combination to open Windows Security opens Task Manager and do the opposite since you want Task Manager and not Windows Security.

<img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> In essence a Hans-post and Joe-post; one with a more detailed explanation, and another short and to the point.

    Good that you agree. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

using the info given I found that the culprit was mrvGINA.dll which was explained here

MrvGINA.dll in Networking and the Web
