    TrueImage 10 & Cordless Mouse

Reference reading: Back in the Spring, I mentioned in <post:=576,852>post 576,852</post:> that I had found a solution to the cordless mouse failure when booting the Acronis Emergency CD. The two different solutions were found here: USB wireless mouse issue - Wilders Security Forums

I made myself a Post-It note crib sheet that reads something like this:

    1. Boot the Acronis CD
    2. At the GUI, press F11.
    3. Press tab key to highlight "QUIET" and then press the delete key.
    4. In that same box, type "usbmouse=off" (no quotes).
    5. When you end up at a blinking cursor, enter "product" and press enter (again, no quotes).

I finally got around to trying TrueImage 10 from the boot CD and Acronis has not fixed the problem for my Logitech cordless optical mouse. Booting in a normal fashion, without the above workaround still results in a mouse pointer that ONLY moves up and down, not laterally.

However, the above work-around still works, but be careful to do it exactly. In my sloppy handwritten note, I couldn't tell for sure, but if you enter usbmouse = off, the workaround doesn't workaround! (note the spaces around the equal sign)

    Al,
I assume that was just a FYI note and the mouse works OK?
I think I'm just getting dense in the mense.

Yeah, Bob, you're right - just a FYI that V. 10 still has the problem and the workaround still works, if you type the syntax correctly. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> I can't wait until I get to be a beta tester for the first time, so I can "turn in" this problem. Obviously, the forum doesn't get it done 'cause the problem's been mentioned a bunch of times, through at least a couple of versions.

    Al,
I think the Beta testers input site is still open.
How about sending me a PM ( or a post ) with all the details again. I can try to send it in as a new bug discovered and maybe they will act on it?
Might be worth a try anyway.

Sorry, but I thought I'd told you either in a post or a PM that I have been accepted as an Acronis tester for whenever the next "cycle" begins. They sent me an email about a month ago. I'm sure further instructions will follow.

This isn't a show-stopper problem since both workarounds are easy to do and work quite well. There's NO performance problems with TI as a result. I only mentioned it for the benefit of other Loungers who might have a cordless mouse and experience a problem.

I haven't done a full restore with version 10, BUT I have played around with mounting an image and dragging some files out and it seems OK to me.

Re: TrueImage 10 & Cordless Mouse

You did tell me that but I thought I could still crank it in to the V 10 beta testing site. They open a different one for each new version or build.
But as long as you are willing to wait for the next one and the workaround works, OK.
