    Queries (2003)

Hi, I have a table showing an Id Number, Period and Value. Each Id may have up to about 100 periods and values. Is there an easy way to check whether the value against each period is the same?

    Cheers.

    You could do the following:
    - Create a query based on the table.
    - Add the Period and Value fields to the query grid, and another copy of the Value field.
    - Select View | Totals or click the Totals button on the toolbar (the button with the Greek capital letter Sigma).
    - Leave the Total option to the default Group By for the first two columns, and set it to Count for the third column.
    - Set the criteria for the third column to >1.
The query will return the combinations of Period and Value that occur more than once (duplicates)

If I misunderstood your question (which is quite possible), please holler.

Hi Hans, basically what I'm trying to do is run through each id by period and value and throw up a check marker where the values are not the same throughout, so its along the same lines but not quite. Thanks for your help.

Could you provide an example of what you have in mind, or post a stripped-down copy of your database? See <post#=401925>post 401925</post#> for instructions.
