    Repeated PST Errors (MSO 2003)

For the last week or so, at least once a day, when I'm opening Outlook, I get the "...file was not closed properly..." and it runs the check on the file.

Nothing has changed in my Office setup, or my PC setup for that matter, that might cause this.

Aside from the often lengthy process and interruption, there's the obvious risk of definite file damage or corruption.

What could be causing this, and is there a "long term" solution?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

When you close down, check in Task Manager and see if there is an instance of Outlook still running. If there is, you are shutting it down before it has closed the pst nicely, and hence will get the message on starting up.

Why it is not closing down properly of course may be a different issue... - have you run scanpst.exe (if still relevant with 2003)?

    Joe/Leif:

Thanks Joe, I marked that page...

Leif, I thought I was being pretty careful. I run "Knockout" in my try solely because it indicates when Outlook is fully closed... but I'll take a closer look...

    Thanks guys,
    Chuck
