    Anti-Keylogger measure

I was reviewing my old posts, (trying to find the solution to an Excel problem I had for a colleague), when I came across a discussion about foiling keyloggers, ( <post#=500,749>post 500,749</post#> ). I currently use a tip I thought I

Not really a security issue, but the OSK is also a great benefit when you switch languages and keyboard layout, especiallz when it switches things like z's and y's around <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Don

The original reason the on-screen keyboard was developed was for people with mobility impairment and was designed for use with joysticks and other pointing device software. A lot of the disability software is much more sophisticated but there were specially trained tutors at an old college I worked at who taught students with mobility impairment.

    Hi Steve,

    Great tip.

And you can do more with this:
    - enter your login id on the OSK
    - use the tab key on the OSK to advance to the password field
    - enter your password on the OSK
    - use the enter key on the OSK to enter (sometimes you have to actually click on an enter key so this won't work in these cases)

    Re: Anti-Keylogger measure

    Dear Steve,

Unfortunately, it's not that easy anymore. Modern spyware can easily cope with standard Windows means. There's a number of ways to intercept data without capturing keytrokes and please believe me - keyloggers use them widely: clipboard text interception, window text interception, screen capturing etc.

Moreover, some can even hook data from virtual keyboard itself. Thus it would be naive enough to rely fully on the described method - good security software is what you need.

Btw, the idea of Virtual Keyboard is great itself (but not the standard one!). Many vendors use it, developing their own virtual keyboards with enhanced protection (like this one - www.anti-keylogger.com).

Wish you never become a victim of data theft.

    Regards,

    HammerS

It's also invaluable when your wireless kbd batteries are playing up or you have an undiagnosed kbd problem and need to google for help. I recall trying to compose a google search using just the letters and words available on the google homepage. ;-)

i've just created a shortcut to osk on my desktop

This was typed using osk !
